When Princely Umanmielen picked up the call from the Carolina Panthers on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, he didn’t just thank them—he challenged them.

“I’m gonna have to break y’all’s pockets in 3-4 years,” the rookie edge rusher said. It wasn’t arrogance. It was a bold promise from a player already wired for the spotlight—and ready to cash in on his potential.

A Unique Blend of Power and Burst

Umanmielen, drafted 77th overall out of Ole Miss, racked up 10.5 sacks in 2024 and showcased one of the fastest first steps among edge defenders in the nation. At 6’4”, 255 pounds, he squats over 700 pounds and blends raw strength with elite bend—a combination that the Panthers couldn’t pass up. GM Dan Morgan said Umanmielen "bends about as good as any rusher" he's seen and possesses a "wicked spin move"

“I’m not a guy that sits there and does too much with the offensive tackle,” Umanmielen told team media. “If I can beat you now, I’m gonna beat you now and not give the quarterback any time.” That mindset could pay off fast for a Carolina defense that finished with just 27 sacks last season—ranking 30th in the NFL.

Built for Carolina’s Defensive Overhaul

The Panthers are rebooting, and Umanmielen isn’t walking into a crowded depth chart—he’s walking into a golden opportunity. Defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero’s aggressive scheme is tailor-made for an edge rusher who thrives on quick pressure.

What’s more: GM Dan Morgan hand-picked Umanmielen for his twitch and toughness. Umanmielen has a clear path to meaningful snaps and instant impact.

He doesn’t just want to make the roster. He wants to lead the sack count.

Carolina, don’t wait until he’s a household name—lock in now. Princely Umanmielen isn’t just a promising rookie. He’s the future face of your defense.
