Albeit in a limited outing, a big presence was able to suit up for the Carolina Panthers at training camp this morning.
Starting left guard Damien Lewis returned to the practice field on Wednesday. The 29-year-old hog molly had not been able to participate since July 28 due to a calf injury.
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, Lewis was able to go through individual drills. He then worked off to the side, along with fellow starting guard Robert Hunt and defensive lineman Derrick Brown.
Head coach Dave Canales talked about Lewis following today's session.
"D-Lew went through the first part of practice, individual work. Looked great," Canales told reporters. "Was able to move around some. We kept him out of team, got him some extra work on the side, and then that'll be his next progression."
Canales added that Lewis will not play in Saturday's preseason matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Lewis started in 33 of a possible 35 games, including playoffs, during his first two seasons with the Panthers. He's entering the third year of a four-year, $53 million deal.
