Kyron Brown stood in front of a large crowd of supporters inside the Palo Auditorium. The Dons receiver was sure of his ultimate decision.
In one quick moment, Brown turned around as he took off his blue and white Palo Duro uniform — before he made a 180 and showed off a white long sleeve adorned with the burnt orange, a Texas Longhorns logo and placing a Longhorns cap on his head.
"I'll be going to the University of Texas at Austin," he told the crowd in attendance in a video posted to the Amarillo ISD Facebook page. "God bless, god bless."

Soon enough, the crowd erupted in applause as they saw Brown smile, take photos and, of course, do the signature "Hook 'em" sign. It was the start of what could be a banner year for the rising senior.
Last season, Brown helped Palo Duro win the program's first outright district title in more than 20 years. The Dons had multiple players honored on All-District teams and selected for superlatives. Brown was unanimously named Special Teams Player of the Year and Eric Mims Sr., along with the Dons' coaching staff, earned unanimous Coach of the Year recognition.
The speedster was a gamechanger in every sense of the word, averaging 32.4 yards on 13 kickoff returns. Brown tallied 37 catches for 637 yards and seven touchdowns, while also netting six sacks — tying for the team lead in that category.
The 6-foot, 185-pound three-star prospect, per 247Sports and On3, picked the Longhorns over Northwestern and Kansas State of the Big 12 Conference. The multi-sport athlete, who also plays basketball, was offered by Longhorns back on June 3 when he camped at Texas. He set an official visit for the weekend of June 12-14.
