Sherrone Moore's time with Michigan was full of controversy, largely due to an inappropriate relationship he had with former Michigan staffer Paige Shiver.
Moore was arrested on Dec. 10, 2025, after he was fired and immediately blamed Shiver for ruining his life. Moore was detained by police, but not before threatening to take his own life in front of Shiver in her own home.
On Friday, Shiver gave her side of the story for the first time with an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America." Shiver claims she was part of a toxic relationship in which she was scared because Moore and the rest of the Michigan athletic department had power over her.
The interview comes less than two weeks after Moore was sentenced to 18 months of probation and court fines of around $1,000. Moore also took a plea deal in March that saw him plead no contest to two misdemeanors.

Paige Shiver interview on 'Good Morning America'
Paige Shiver, the ex-Michigan executive assistant at the center of the Sherrone Moore scandal, sat for an interview with "Good Morning America" to discuss her relationship with the former Wolverines head coach. Shiver said that her relationship, which lasted four years, was an "open secret" in the Michigan athletic department.
Shiver said the relationship began when Moore said he was planning on divorcing his wife. However, Moore often begged Shiver not to leave, and even threatened to take his own life, when Shiver considered ending the relationship.
"[He] had complete control over me, over my emotions, over my career, and he knew that, and he used it against me," she said. "Every time I tried to pull away, every time I tried to get out of even Michigan, he always had a way to pull me in and make me feel that I couldn't leave him because he was so miserable without me."
Shiver added that her job became dependent on Moore, as she was promoted from intern to executive assistant when Moore became head coach. In the process, Shiver said other coaches relied on her to control Moore's emotions during games, leading to her fearing for her job security.
"He and other coaches had control over my career, especially him. I mean, he could fire me in a second," Shiver said. "People knew, but no one was doing anything about it."
Shiver described the day when Moore was fired as Michigan's head coach and showed up to her apartment and threatened to take his own life.
"He's 6-4 and he comes in with his hood up, looking down at me, saying I ruined his life and is crying," she said. "He's not listening to me. And it's like he knew he had control over me. He knew he had power over me."
When Shiver was interviewed by Michigan's HR department last fall, she said she denied the relationship because she didn't trust the school. She finally admitted the relationship to the school's lawyers in December.
"They knew the things that he was doing to me and no one did anything about it because they cared more about winning football games, not having another scandal, and trying to protect the head coach," she said.

Is Paige Shiver pregnant?
Shiver said that she got pregnant with Moore's baby in May 2022, and planned on keeping the baby, but her doctors advised her to get an abortion due to complications from Pompe disease. Shiver then had the abortion in July, and both Moore and the program knew about the procedure.
"Multiple doctors and experts told me that it wouldn't be right or healthy for me to keep the baby," she said. "He said, 'You have to do what's right for your body.'"
What is Pompe disease?
According to the National Organization for Rare Diseases, Pompe disease is a "rare disease continuum" that progresses any time between birth and late adulthood. The disease features "skeletal muscle weakness" that causes mobility issues and impacts the respiratory system.

How old is Paige Shiver?
Shiver is 32 years old but started the relationship with Moore when she was in her late-20s. She is eight years younger than Moore, who turned 40 years old in February.
