The San Diego Padres rejected the Yankees' trade offer of right-handed starting pitcher Will Warren for left-handed reliever Adrian Morejon, according to a report Sunday evening by MLB.com's Bob Nightengale.
Warren, 27, is under team control through the 2030 season. He is 8-5 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 108.2 IP over 22 games (21 starts) this season. His latest outing saw him allow four hits and stuck out seven batters in 6.2 scoreless IP of Friday's 2-0 win at the Chicago Cubs.
"He was awesome," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of Warren after Friday's game. "... He was just super efficient, and that right there is what he's capable of when he's on his game."
The 27-year-old Morejon, meanwhile, is a free agent after the 2026 season. In 60 frames through 52 games this season, the Padres' setup man has a 1.07 WHIP.
"At the end of the day, control what you can control," Warren said after Friday's game when asked about trade noise. "Like I said, whatever's going to happen is going to happen. So, that's never really been on my mind.
"I feel like, ever since I've been with the Yankees, that's been a thing, so I'm kind of used to it by now. But just taking it day by day and, again, whatever happens is going to happen."
