There's simply no hitting Mason Miller.
The San Diego Padres closer is on one of the most dominant pitching runs in MLB history.
On Tuesday night, Miller extended his scoreless innings streak to 29.2 consecutive frames.
That's four innings shy of the Padres' franchise record of Cla Meredith's 33.2 innings. Randy Jones is in second place on the San Diego list at 30.0 consecutive scoreless innings.
But it's not just that.
Miller hasn't allowed a run since August 5. His 29.2 innings in the streak don't count the postseason, where he also didn't allow a run. It doesn't count the World Baseball Classic, where he also didn't allow a run.

It also leaves out the fact that no one is hitting Miller at all.
This season, 27 batters have faced Miller. Luis Arraez has the lone hit.
Miller has struck out 20 of the 27 batters he has faced, 74%.
It was a weird night Tuesday that Miller only got one strikeout among his three outs to get the save against the Seattle Mariners.
“Only struck out one guy tonight,” Padres manager Craig Stammen said after the game, via MLB.com. “Down night for him, I guess. Three days off, maybe a little rust -- nah, he’s good. We feel very good when he’s coming in in the ninth.”
At this point, the only Mason Miller breaking news that could exist would be if he actually, somehow, someway allows a run.
Until then, business as usual.
