So many are willing abandon their Super Bowl contending team during a game that may have serious playoff implications for our team?

at least 30% of the stadium season tickets are scalper owned. it has nothing to do with cardinal fans.

Exactly, something people just cant seem to grasp. I dont think a large part of it is true season ticket holding "fans" selling their tickets. This is a tourism driven economy, the Cardinals have been the hottest ticket in town for years (since Nash left) and a huge portion of the seats at UofP are owned by brokers.

Just go on craigslist sometime and type arizona cardinals. THOUSANDS of seats all from posts that are clearly a ticket selling business.

when I first got on the initial waiting list, they put me down for 10 seats without me even asking. If I was better off financially at the time, I would have purchased 30-40 seats just to scalp each year. Some years you may lose on it but most the time you would make quite a bit of money.

We dont even have Cardinal fans doing local sports talk radio. Morning is a 9er fan, the Bertrand Berry show is done with a Seattle fan constantly chiming in about how much he adores Russell Wilson and our afternoon drive is a Giants fan.

This city is what it is.

this is silly

Im guessing the 9er fan you are referring to is Calvisi, the Cardinals sideline guy and paid homer -- with the host a former Cardinal

ditto for Bertrand Berry -- who has a producer we hear from only occasionally from Seattle

you leave out Bick and Marotta - with Marotta being a season ticket holder for while for the Cards

98.7 is about as Cards centric as it could get right now

Exactly, nothing I said was incorrect. Fact that we have radio hosts who are not Cardinals fans and reinforce that fact constantly as some kind of badge of honor for how objective they are.

Wasn't complaining about it, stating it as a fact that this town is full of transplants and other teams fans.

I'm not sure what football karma thinks is silly about that.

Dumb. Nothing wrong with selling your tickets for what ever reason. If i can tripple or more my money for one game I'm going to. Has nothing to do about budgeting.

Part of the reason Packers fans travel so well is that the cost of living in Wisconsin is absolute dirt compared to the cities they are travelling to. You can buy a house blocks from Lambeau for $125k. Most people are union and make decent money so long as they are employed. They have the money to spend and it's warm here when it is brutal there. Only way to stop this is for our economy to get better here so we can compete.

That wouldn't change a thing. In fact it would just increase the demand, create even more of a sellers market and the brokers would probably pick up even more tickets to sell.

Want to make extra cash? Go ahead and buy a ton of transferable airplane tickets for late Sunday/Early Monday.

When the game gets flexed to SNF, a lot of Packer fans may be scrambling to change their tickets and you'll have a healthy demand for your vouchers.

:D

Airline tickets are non-transferable. Has been that way for many years :)

Yep. Shame on ticket mgmt office that let brokers buy blocks of seats, not Cardinal fans.

How would they put a stop to that? The Cardinals are in the business of selling seats (making $$) and like most any business it is first come first served.

Not always hard and fast rule. Depends on the airline. I've transferred a ticket to my wife's name once by calling the airline and asking very nicely. I know it can be done, but I am also aware I was probably very lucky too. Got the right agent in the right mood on the right day.

True .. after they went thru the list of SDS ticket holders, they were probably left with 35,000 seats to sell. They could've held back some - even if it meant getting blacked out for the first year or so, but the almighty $$ spoke.

you can buy a house in Glendale near the stadium for about $99k.

It would just take a re-write of their ticket policy.

If they have a wait list, they monitor the seats of ticket holders with a large inventory (brokers). If those seats are consistently filled with the wrong color jersey, revoke their rights to buy tickets and put them up on the wait list.

Hahaha .. I've been a corp. travel agent for over 15yrs and they refuse to do it for us (for free anyway - client has to pay an extra $100).

See? So you just add that to what you charge Packers Fan for the privilege! Easy!

my reaction was to the idea that somehow 98.7 sports radio is a factor or a reflection of the fact that other teams fans show up at games

anybody not a fan of the Cardinals who listens to 98.7 would have to sit through hours of Cards centric and supportive programming to get an occasional minute of anything for their team --

if anything -- Doug talks about what a disaster the Redskins are, ditto Bickley on the Bears.

if anything, I think local radio is a bit too over the top supportive of the Cards

Lol you're still arguing a point I never made! I didn't say they don't talk about the cardinals enough, I literally never said that. I was making a point about how many transplants populate the Arizona population, so much that the majority of our sports radio personalities are well known "non Cardinal" fans which is a pretty rare thing in most markets.

It is a microcosm of this market. Guys who will talk about the cardinals because it's their job, occasionally root for the cardinals when they're good, but when it really comes down to it once a year they will be wearing another teams jersey to the game. Nothing is going to change that but years of playoff success, Super Bowls and responsible parenting. Lol.

I agree with you, they are talking about the cardinals, a lot! It's glorious. Other teams fans can suck it!

The theory though is that more Cards fans would have money they were willing to part with for tickets. People here are also used to paying a bargain for tickets, so that probably plays into it. Ultimately it's just going to take time for it to even out and this town to become a more loyal football town, and a lot more winning years like we have had under BA.

Never going to happen, they basically promote scalping through the NFL ticket exchange website. They make it awful and easy for season ticket holders to sell their seats. Enter the price you want to receive, they list it and then send u the money or apply it to your ST account when they sell.
