Ticket biz insiders tell me Packers @ Cardinals game on 12/27 is going to look like it's at Lambeau there are so many people traveling.

Here we go again. Hopefully they blow their cash on a meaningless regular season game and have nothing left to travel for the playoffs.

I can't say I blame them, late December in Arizona is whole lot more fun than in Wisconsin.

They invade. We crush the attack when our team beats their team. They go home unhappy.

Yay.

So many are willing abandon their Super Bowl contending team during a game that may have serious playoff implications for our team?

Stupid Lions!

Letting one receiver get that position is horrible, but there was 3 Packers that had a better play on that ball than the nearest Lion.

IF this turns out to be 50/50 packers or even worse, then this will be nothing less than an epic embarrassment for Cardinals fans' reputations. to not represent late in the season against a conference rival in a VERY important game is beyond laughable. Its a shame too because there is so much to celebrate with this team and the rise of its fan base, a fan base that was non existent 11 years ago.

One step forward two steps back, shame on the fans that sell their tickets.

Give it time Grasshopper... You're comparing fan bases, that just a few years back could have easily been described as "best" and "worst"

We're making huge strides IMO.

Been having that problem since 88. Not to bad now. Anyway we can beat then at home or the road. I don't care how they spend money here.

It happened in Jan 2010, Packers came to town, stadium was filled with Packer fans. When we played the Pack the next week there were more Cardinal fans (still one of my favorite games I ever attended).

The fact is it happens everywhere, people will sell their tickets to make money. One of my co-workers here is a Pack season ticket holder, he only goes to 3 or 4 games a year and sells the other tickets on E-Bay. He made a TON just on the sale of his 2 tix for the game against the Seahawks.

If you're able to recoup 1/2 to 2/3 of your season ticket cost from one game, or take that money to pay for the home playoff game(s), why not?

If people need the money that bad, maybe they should take a budgeting class.

Potentially the most important game of the year is not a time to sell your team out.

Resale ticket prices are OUTRAGEOUS. $400 for tickets in 102 where I sit. EACH. My parents are in town and I am trying to find two tickets nearby, but if I don't, I am not gonna lie, it's going to be really tempting to sell and use that money to throw a hell of a BBQ for my family.

It's easy to default to saying that people should take better care of their money, but it's not that simple. Sometimes, unexpected circumstances happen like a job loss or unexpected expense that a budget cannot handle. When the demand for games is as high as it has been since 2008, those season tickets are like cash vouchers.

Sometimes, it's not about budgeting, but rather smart investing. Some people I know purchase season tickets, go to the low demand games, and sell the tickets to high demand games like Seattle, Green Bay, San Francisco, etc. to either nullify the cost for purchasing season tickets or, in some cases, make money off of the deal.

I get frustrated when the fan ratio is lopsided, but at the same time, I get it.

So I assume, based on your post, that you have invested in season tickets and will be making the trip to attend this game?

Exactly. I wish I could make every game but it's unrealistic. My home refrigerated AC unit went out in August and I ended up having to trade my pair of tickets to get the repair done. I knew it would be a big game but crap happens.

That will be consecutive home game 121 for me. I had a buddy sell two of his extra tickets for 250 a piece in the upper deck, almost paid for those 2 tickets for the entire year. His prerogative. My wife will still be in Oregon for Christmas (I flew home to make sure I could attend the game) so I gave my extra ticket to a Cardinals fan buddy as his bday present. Figured selling 1 would be hard and I don't wanna sit next to a GB fan.

We'll be there. We'll never sell our tickets and lose out on the game day experience and being able to support the team in person. We'll just have to be even louder with all of the additional GB fans in our building.

I am, sort of. The guy who sits next to me is a season ticket holder and we are friends (have gone to sports bars to watch road games together on occasion) and his wife is from Green Bay. He asked if we were going and if not if he could buy my tickets, but we have family coming into town for the holidays so I am just giving them to him. I figure he'll bring his GB cheering family to the game, but better than just selling them to some randoms. Hate me if you must! :)

This is not news. I don't know why it's suddenly news. There are always a crapload of packer fans at these games. Amateur reporting...

Breaking news! There will also be a ton of Vikings fans there! More breaking news, the sky is blue!

Arizona is a beautiful place, people are willing to travel here to see their teams and people are transplanted here. It's what our economy is built on and it will not change, just accept it and be loud cardinal fans!

We go to every game, but if the NFC West is wrapped up I'm all for taking the $$$. The ticket prices are HUGE!

a variety of reasons:

1. the upper midwest is likely the biggest source of football fan transplants in the valley -- most of those attending wont be travelling but driving over

2. Phoenix as a travel hub for Southwest and US Air / American means any Packer fan in So Cal, Vegas, SF etc can make a day trip here for the game. For $280 one can fly from LA in the morning and catch a flight back at 7:30 pm

trust me -- this is the same as it would be if the game were in any number of sunbelt cities

The bigger problem as I see it is not home fans selling out. It's that a lot of season tickets from day one in the new digs were bought by re-marketers. I see a lot of the same sets ever week every year with opposing team fans. Seat's I can't move to. Sold they keep telling me. :mulli:

This doesn't bother me at all, especially with the Packers. Their fans are among the most gracious in the league in my experience, both here and there. Me and my gal traveled to Green Bay for the Cards last game there a few years ago, and in full Cardinals gear, we were treated REALLY nicely by everybody we encountered.

That said - NFW we're selling any of our tickets, we'll be there, wearing all kinds of RED Cards gear, including my cardinal mask, and I'll be LOUD!!
