The Green Bay Packers will host Wilfried Laurier quarterback Taylor Elgersma -- who played college football in Canada -- on an official pre-draft visit to Green Bay, according to Justin Dunk of 3DownNation.com.
Elgersma, a native of London, Ontario, was a two-time All-Canadian team pick and the 2024 winner of the Hec Crighton Trophy, which is given to the most outstanding player in Canadian college football.
Elgersma elevated his draft status when he participated at the Senior Bowl, where he measured 6-4 and 216 pounds with 9.5" hands. During the game, Elgersma completed 4-of-7 passes for 57 yards.
Over eight games in 2024, Elgersma completed 74.5 percent of his passes, threw 20 touchdown passes to nine interceptions, led his team to an unbeaten regular season record and then was named the MVP of the Yates Cup and MVP of the Uteck Bowl.
Elgersma is 23 years old. At Buffalo's pro day, he measured 6-5 and 227 pounds. He hit 25" in the vertical leap, covered 8-9 in the broad jump and finished the three-cone drill in 7.95 seconds, so his athleticism is a question mark.
The Packers have Jordan Love, Malik Willis and Sean Clifford under contract for 2025, but Willis and Clifford will both be free agents in 2026. It's possible general manager Brian Gutekunst will use one of his draft picks on a player who can compete with Clifford and potentially be the backup quarterback if Willis departs in 2026.
Considering there is a possibility of Elgersma going undrafted, the Packers could be using the pre-draft visit as a way of selling him on the idea of signing in Green Bay post-draft. The Packers also have two seventh-round draft picks.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic gave Elgersma a priority free agent grade as the No. 24 overall quarterback in the draft class.
