The Green Bay Packers are expected to hire San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Bullocks, a former NFL safety, has been with the 49ers since the 2017 season. He spent two seasons as an assistant defensive backs coach (2017-18) before a promotion to safeties coach in 2019. Kyle Shanahan made him defensive backs coach in 2023 and then added defensive passing game specialist to his title in 2024. The 49ers interviewed Bullocks for the team's open defensive coordinator job in 2024.
It's currently unclear what role Bullocks will take on with the Packers. Green Bay reportedly hired former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Bobby Babich as a secondary coach and defensive pass game coordinator, replacing Derrick Ansley. It's possible Bullocks will focus on a singular position in the secondary, such as safety, a position he played in college and the NFL.
Bullocks brings 10 years of NFL coaching experience to Green Bay.
Bullocks starred as a safety at Nebraska before becoming a second-round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2006. He remained in the NFL until July of 2010 and then entered coaching in 2012, when he joined Northern Iowa as a defensive backs coach. He entered the NFL coaching ranks as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.
