GREEN BAY – In his major move as president of the Green Bay Packers, Ed Policy decided on the futures for three key members of the staff.
The Packers announced multi-year contract extensions for coach Matt LaFleur, general manager Brian Gutekunst and executive vice president/director of football operations Russ Ball.
While the Packers collapsed to end the year with five straight losses, including a wild-card playoff loss to the rival Chicago Bears, Policy said he is confident he has the group needed to win a Super Bowl.
“Their steadfast dedication, passion and collaboration have remained constant in our drive to compete at the highest level,” Policy said in a statement. “While we are all disappointed with the way this season ended, we remain aligned in purpose and have spent considerable time over the past weeks collaborating on a path forward. I am exceedingly confident we have the right people to achieve our goal. The entire Packers organization looks forward to supporting every effort to bring our community and fans another championship that they very much deserve.”
LaFleur, 46, is gearing up for his eighth season as coach of the Packers. His 76 regular-season wins are tied with Paul Brown for second in NFL history for most by a coach in his first seven NFL seasons. Under LaFleur’s leadership, the Packers have made in the playoffs six of the past seven years and appeared in two NFC championship games.
Since LaFleur took over as coach in 2019, the Packers have consistently been among the best offenses in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers won two of his four MVPs and LaFleur played a key role in the development of Jordan Love and backup Malik Willis.
Gutekunst has been with the Packers for 27 seasons and has been general manager since 2018. He drafted, among others, Love, Edgerrin Cooper, Evan Williams, Javon Bullard and Devonte Wyatt, while also making a big splash in free agency by picking up Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney in 2024 and trading for Micah Parsons in 2025.
Ball, a 38-year veteran who’s spent 19 years in Green Bay, joined the Packers in 2008 as president of football administration/player finance. He was promoted to his current role in 2018.
