The Green Bay Packers placed receiver/cornerback Bo Melton on injured reserve and activated linebacker Nick Niemann from injured reserve on Wednesday, providing a swap of core special teamers before Green Bay takes on the Chicago Bears in the NFC Wild Card Round on Saturday.

Melton injured his knee while covering a punt during Sunday's regular season finale. He will miss the rest of the season. Melton's roster spot went to Niemann, who went on injured reserve after suffering a pectoral injury in Week 8. He was designated for return from injured reserve last Wednesday and is now available to play on Saturday.

During the first eight weeks, Niemann led the NFL with 10 special teams tackles.

While Niemann won't replace Melton's specific role on special teams, he did play 115 special teams snaps over the first seven games.

Melton is the third cornerback to go on injured reserve over the last two weeks, joining Nate Hobbs and Kamal Hadden, and the second important special teamer to go on injured reserve, joining Zayne Anderson.

The Packers also made a pair of practice squad moves. Wide receiver Will Sheppard was placed on practice squad/injured reserve, opening a spot for defensive lineman Anthony Campbell to be signed. Campbell (6-6, 307) is an undrafted free agent rookie who was signed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2025 and spent part of the regular season on the Seahawks' practice squad.
