The awards are starting to roll in for the FHSAA softball 6A state champions.
Pace junior pitcher Hannah DeMarcus was named the Florida Dairy Farmers 6A Player of the Year, while head coach Lexi Alexander was named the 6A Coach of the Year after voting by a statewide panel of coaches and media representatives.
DeMarcus finished with 131 points, while Bartow's Ryleigh Knowlton finished second with 83 points. Alexander totaled 157 points, while Bartow's Glenn Rutenbar finished second with 111 points.
DeMarcus went 20-2 with a 0.90 ERA and 315 strikeouts in 155 2/3 innings in the circle to lead the Patriots to their second state championship in the last three years. She tossed 14 complete games, 12 shutouts, five no-hitters and was especially dialed in for the postseason.
Demarcus went 7-0 with a 0.62 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched in seven postseason starts. She was named Florida Gatorade Player of the Year and Prep Softball National Player of the Year as a sophomore after leading Pace to a 6A state runner-up finish.
Alexander guided Pace to a 27-4 record and the third state title in program history. Pace is 107-12 in her four seasons at the helm, with state championships in 2024 and 2026 and state runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2025.
The pair, along with the winners from the seven other classifications, are now eligible to win the 2026 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Softball and Softball Coach of the Year. The overall winners will be announced after another round of coach and media voting.
