man... I gotta disagree, out of six guys, there's only ONE with any kind of speed off the edge and he's a 5th round project. that's a really suspect OLB core in my opinion... to go with an even more suspect ILB core, mostly due to Washington's violent-dumbassness.

and wait... Golden is already 24?! That doesn't make me feel good there either.

Okafor has some speed as he did get to the QB several times in the last part of the season.

Off the line ?

I disagree. By NFL standards he is quite average, but his power, and his hand use are very good, dare I say excellent. I am quite confident in Okafor.

Not to mention I think Golden will compliment Okafor very well.

As much as people are trying to fight it, Matt Shaughnessey will play some OLBer as well.

Okafor is a solid started, may not ever be a star, but he's solid. I don't see ZO as much more than a special teams player, but between Riddick, Martin & Golden, hopefully we have someone that can step up. Lot's of physical talent between those guys, just a question of who wants that spot.

To me, our defense has taken a definite step back. Not only is our D coordinator green but losing Cromartie and Williams are big. I'm not sure what Spoon, Peters and Redding will bring but as much as I hate to say it, our defense next year may hinge on the D Wash situation. With him, our D becomes legit because of his blitz ability.

Okafor had decent stats for his limited playing time. Martin has promise and then you have the two rookies. I like it a lot better than recent years

There isn't a stand out of course, but I think Golden will be one that we end up liking.

I really like Kareem Martin I didn't like the decision to make him gain weight and play at the line I like the idea of him standing up a lot more

This is exactly what we said about Sam Acho following his rookie season. Let's all be careful out there.

Did Acho ever have the production Okafor did in that limited time though?

I'm not a stat guy but I know Okafor had like six sacks this year? an played less than 10 games?

Acho had 7 sacks in 10 starts his rookie season.
Okafor had 8 sacks in 12 starts his second season.

Let's just temper our enthusiasm a little bit, is all I'm saying.

I doubt Acho had those stats or better. I like what Okafor did in his limited playing time. Although he may not be a fast edge rusher, he seem to be able to get in there and sack the QB.

Edit :

Acho had 7 sacks in 10 starts his rookie season.
Okafor had 8 sacks in 12 starts his second season.

Okafor is a far stronger player than Acho. I think it is safe to say he might never be great but with his size and power, he will be solid
