NORMAN — Oklahoma football spring practice is in full swing as the Sooners held practice No. 4 on Monday.

Here’s some of what stuck out to The Oklahoman:

∎ Wide receivers Jer’Michael Carter and Elijah Thomas, as well as running back Xavier Robinson and offensive lineman Ryan Fodje did not participate in practice. Carter was on a crutch, while Robinson and Thomas were each in a boot. The players Brent Venables ruled out last week — PJ Adebawore, Tory Blaylock, Trell Harris, Jayden Jackson and David Stone — also didn’t participate.

∎ Wide receiver Parker Livingstone was being tended to on the side and didn’t participate in one-on-one drills. Linebacker Kristan Moore was off to the side working out during some drills.

∎ OU is trying different things offensively during spring. Colorado State transfer Lloyd Avant was lined up at receiver at times while freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers was being utilized in the backfield.

∎ Brent Venables has been spending the majority of his time during the Sooners’ first few practices watching the offense, especially the tight ends coached by Jason Witten.

∎ Heath Ozaeta was at right guard for Fodje, who didn’t participate. Starting offensive line on Monday: Michael Fasusi, Eddy Pierre-Louis, Jake Maikkula, Ozaeta and E’Marion Harris.

∎ Safety Markel Ford continues to be out. OU is light at safety.

The Sooners are expected to scrimmage later this week.
