The quarterbacks weren’t stressed too much on Day 1, but Garrett Nussmeier had a decent outing to kick off Senior Bowl week. Right from the jump, he showed command of the offense, moving the pocket and operating off different mesh points on play-action.

I watched more of the line reps, but from what I saw, LSU quarterback Garrett Nusmeier was inconsistent on passes in 7-on-7 drills. This is a big week for the QB who had a down year in 2025.

— Malachi Fields (WR, Notre Dame) got a lot of attention from Daniel Jeremiah on the NFL Network and was touted as a possible second round pick. There’s no doubting he looks the part and has a great frame — but nobody seemed to be really focusing on how challenging it is for him to separate. Players like Puka Nacua are rare. Fields does not possess suddenness off the snap, downfield speed or short-area quickness. Can he perform consistently if everything is contested at the next level? I’m not sure. In 1v1’s today he wasn’t separating very easily.

Zion Young

Young is an underrated EDGE prospect in this class due to his teammate Damon Wilson II (who’s since transferred) shining in 2025. The former Tigers pass rusher’s numbers aren’t gaudy, but he was consistently good with a breakout 6.5 sacks in 2025. He possesses great size and length that scouts want in EDGE prospects, measuring in at 6’5 262. His motor doesn’t quit, and the underlying numbers uncover a bit of startling truth. PFF credited him with 56 pressures in 2025 and a pass rush score of 82.7. Young could be a sneaky Day 2 two selection with a good week in Mobile.

Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Texas Tech
There is nothing physically imposing about Rodriguez. He has below average and athleticism, but he knows how to play the linebacker position. And during Wednesday’s practice, he just couldn’t stop making plays. While no one will mistake Rodriguez as a first-round pick, he’s firmly established himself as a Day 2 pick and a potential starting linebacker right out of the gate.

Pitt linebacker Kyle Louis continues to become one of my favorite sleepers of this draft cycle. Today, he ran some with the safeties and got some opportunities to cover wide receivers in one-on-one opportunities, which he had no problem doing. Louis also had a big tackle for loss in 11-on-11 drills that got a huge reaction from the coaches and his teammates. Defensive back Malik Muhammad out of Texas is putting together a solid week as well, made several nice pass breakups and has been very sticky in coverage against some of the taller receivers on the American team, like Malachi Fields and Ja’Kobi Lane.

Despite checking in at 297 pounds (tied for the lightest O-lineman at this year’s Senior Bowl), Brockermeyer was up to the task against every defensive lineman he faced in one-on-one drills. He displayed plus core strength, strong hands and a balanced base. It’s rare for any offensive lineman to consistently outperform his defensive counterparts in one-on-one pass pro drills, but it’s even more rare for a center to do it. Brockermeyer was lights-out throughout the day and made himself money.

Zion Young, Edge — Missouri​

Young’s versatility showed up again on Wednesday. He handled misdirection well, played with active hands, and flashed the ability to slide inside on passing downs. He looks comfortable against NFL-caliber competition and has quietly solidified himself as a strong Day 2 draft candidate.

Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez forced a fumble and registered an interception at Wednesday's Senior Bowl practice. Rodriguez is undersized, but he's an Energy Bunny who accumulated 125+ tackles in back-to-back seasons. Rodriguez has also been smooth when tasked with playing in coverage in Mobile.

Max is an interesting player.

I guess I should expand on this. He has great size, good athleticism, and was late to the sport. He is probably a 4th/5th rounder at this point but his ability to show growth could potentially drive him up. This is a good type of player to draft if you can teach and develop players.

I was surprised Black decided to participate in the Senior Bowl considering he had helped Indiana win its first ever national championship just a week earlier. The decision speaks to his competitiveness and won’t go unnoticed by NFL teams. And somehow, he didn’t look like a guy who had just wrapped up a 16-game season. Everything he did was full speed. I give the 1,000-yard rusher a lot of credit.
