I think the most important thing out of all of this is that you don't hear ANY stories about the team having Geno's back in this. Any QB who is a leader would have the rest of the team beating this guy's tail in for punching him. This could be the best thing possible for the Jets.

Story behind the punch that broke Geno Smith's jaw in two places:
At the heart of the dispute between former Jets LB IK Enemkpali and quarterback Geno Smith is $600 that Enemkpali believed Smith owed him, per league sources. Enemkpali purchased a plane ticket for Smith to attend his July 11 football camp at Pfugerville High School in Pfugerville, Texas. However, days before the camp, a person close to Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident in Miami and Smith did not attend Enemkpali’s camp, per sources. After Smith did not attend, Enemkpali demanded that the Jets’ quarterback refund him the $600 he allegedly used to purchase a plane ticket. Smith told Enemkpali he would reimburse him the money, but he did not. Enkempali confronted Smith today about the money and the confrontation ended in a punch and broken jaw.

Not that Geno was beloved anyway, but how can he ever "win" that locker room now? He was never particularly good, he backed out of a charity event, welched on money owed and then got in the guy's face about paying the money back. Then got his lights punched out.

Not exactly leader material.

IK was a mediocre at best LB with a history of poor behavior stemming from his college days. This guy's NFL career is likely done...over $600.

Depends on if Geno was in mid-sentence. Your jaw is merely a hinge, if your mouth is closed it would take a wallop to break a dudes jaw, but if Geno was in the middle of flapping his mouth with the "hinge" open and loose then it takes a lot less trauma to really mess you up.

Ikemefuna Enemkpali's career, because he is very much replaceable.

And Geno's will forever be tainted by the players.

I dont condone the punching, but Geno could have shelled the dough. No reason why a fringe player should break his account for the star of the team. Thats total BS
