How many people when attempting suicide shoot themselves in the chest, rather than the head? That seems odd to me... Perhaps, it's not suicide?

I believe it happened in Managua, where he was the Mayor... I would guess the chances are pretty good that it was not suicide.

This is a real bummer. Alexis was an alltime great. His first fight with Aaron Pryor is one of the alltime great fights.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alexis at an offshore fishing tournament down in Key West back in the early 80's. He was truly one of the most respectful, kind and sincere guys I've ever met. Incredible with the kids...
Shook my hand and to this day I can still recall how I was blown away by his strength. All muscle, not an ounce of fat anywhere on his body. When he lifted his hand to shake mine, you can see the muscles rippling in his entire arm!

Sad to see him gone. Big loss...

It's very sad indeed. My local paper has a story today that says Arguello did an interview with SI in 1985 where he talked about his problems with drugs and how he'd once sat on a bed with a gun trying to get up the courage to kill himself.


It does seem a little suspicious where he shot himself, seems like usually suicide is a shot to the head.
