#AZCardinals GM Monti Ossenfort on who the starting QB is.

"Right now, we're not really naming anybody."

HC Mike LaFleur said that isn't part of the discussion right now as the team works to learn the new offense. Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew are the options.

Monti Ossenfort and Mike LaFleur did not say who will be the #AZCardinals starting quarterback.

“Both those guys have played a lot of football. Right now, none of that is even being discussed because all we’re trying to do is get a foundational aspect of what this system looks like.” - LaFleur

#AZCardinals GM Monti Ossenfort;

- Says this draft is much different then 2023, cited roster is drastically different

- First thing Monti mentioned when asked about QB’s? Accuracy and decision-making

- Said team is confident with current crop of QB’s

- Views draft as both wanting to improve team immediately while keeping long term vision intact as well

- Says nothing concrete has popped when asked about getting calls on the top pick. Says those discussions won’t really happen until next week

- “Ultimately goes back to the tape” when asked about measurables. “There’s always exceptions.”

- Says having high picks in later rounds isn’t too much of an advantage

- “You can never go wrong taking the best player”

- Confirmed Paris’ fifth-year option was picked up

- “you can never have enough good players no matter what position” says the team will never draft for need

-Says the team looks back at previous drafts and evaluates hits/misses, says they’ve learned a lot

- Says he “switched” thoughts on the transfer portal and how he evaluates that aspect

Clear top takeaway from Monti Ossenfort’s presser: He did absolutely nothing to push back on the Ty Simpson hype.

Monti was fairly open today in explaining the Cardinals lack of FA spending. Basically put it on two things:
1) "You have to have guys that you want to go out aggressively and get."
2) "We have players coming up that are due for extensions that we have to take into account."

We have to be prepared for the BJ Ojulari mega-contract

@Ronin, thanks for posting... I listened to the press conference as I always do, and came away thinking it was a complete waste of time, as these things usually are.

Obviously I don't expect any specific clues about the Cards' plans for the draft, but these two just say nothing truly insightful whatsoever.

When you go into a season unable to say who you’re starting QB is… you don’t have a starting QB.

Basically, I can't sign guys who will block my draft picks who haven't made an impact.
