Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have done a good job of getting former Eugene legends back into connection with the program since he took over earlier this decade. It turns out that means bringing back the sons of those legends as well.
A couple of years ago, we saw Akili Smith Jr., the son of Oregon's legendary quarterback Akili Smith, commit to the team, and on Sunday, we saw another legacy prospect choose the Ducks, with 4-star cornerback Josiah Molden officially committing to Oregon.
Molden, the No. 209 overall player and No. 28 CB in the 2027 class, is the son of Alex Molden, a former two-time All-Pac-10 player, and first-round draft pick for the Ducks back in 1996.
Josiah Molden is rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Oregon this cycle, playing at West Linn High School. He stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds, and has been connected to the Ducks for a long time throughout his recruitment.
His father, Alex, was drafted with the No. 11 overall pick in 1996 by the New Orleans Saints, and played for sevearl years in the NFL before retiring in 2003. He was a First Team All-American for the Ducks in 1995.
With the addition of Molden, Oregon now has the No. 8 class in the 2027 cycle.
