The Oregon Ducks are set to welcome their first round of official visits to Eugene this weekend. It's a big time for Dan Lanning and the Ducks to close on some of their favorite recruits in the 2027 class, with several top recruits expected on campus in the next month.
Four-star offensive lineman Ismael Camara is one of the most coveted recruits remaining on the board for the Ducks. The 6-foot-6, 335-pound lineman is the No. 34 overall player in the class, per Rivals, and the No. 4 player from the state of Texas.
Camara was scheduled to take official visits to his top schools this summer, which included a trip to Oregon for the weekend of June 19. However, in a post on his X account on Wednesday, Camara announced that he would no longer be taking any of his official visits. Instead, Camara will be focusing on finishing high school early and putting his best foot forward next season at Gilmer High School.
"I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all the coaches and programs who have invited me to take an Official Visit this summer, as well as the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to make these visits so special for players and their families," Camara wrote.
"That being said, I have decided not to take any Official Visits this summer," Camara continued. "The personal challenge I set for myself two years ago (when I got here) completing high school in just 2.5 years to early enroll in 2027 demands my full commitment. I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made in these two years. As a team captain, i got to be here for my teammates during summer workouts. This is my final season last year was my first on varsity, and we fell short. This year, we’re determined not to let that happen."
Despite the news, the Ducks are viewed as a favorite for the big man from Texas. Oregon appears to be leading the race against programs such as Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU and SMU.
Oregon will likely push to get Camara on campus late in the summer or during the fall. No matter what he decides to do, Camara's recruitment will be one to watch over the next few months in case anything changes or if he decides to commit.
