The Oregon Ducks are bringing an imposing defensive line to Autzen Stadium this season, thanks to the return of standout defensive tackles A'Mauri Washington and Bear Alexander on the interior. They are known for blowing up opposing rushing attacks and making life difficult for quarterbacks.
Unfortunately for the offenses on Oregon's schedule this fall, the duo only appears to be getting stronger.
As summer workouts ramp up, with fall camp just around the corner, the Ducks are in the weight room getting their bodies right for the season. Alexander and Washington are two of the strongest Ducks on the 2026 roster, and they are making it known by throwing around some weight in the gym.
On Friday, Alexander posted on X a Hatfield squat rep he did in Oregon's weight room. The load? 855 pounds. For reference, that's almost three big offensive linemen that Alexander will face this season in the Big Ten.
Not to be outdone, North Carolina transfer D'Antre Robinson posted a video to his Instagram story of Washington doing two reps of the same 855-pound weight on his back, with nine 45-pound weights loaded up on each side of the bar.
Last season, Washington was a third-team All-Big Ten selection after managing 33 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and eight pass deflections at the line of scrimmage. He also had 1.5 sacks. Alexander had a similar impact in his first season in Eugene, logging 44 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack and one pass deflection.
Both Washington and Alexander are expected to lead Oregon's defensive tackle room this season as two valuable returners in the room that was decimated by the transfer portal. Robinson was brought in to help out, alongside Matthew Johnson and Aydin Breland, who took big steps forward this spring.
Washington and Alexander could become first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft if they put together another strong campaign in Eugene this season. The duo along the defensive front should shoulder some of the weight of expectations that the Ducks have this season, hoping to contend for the program's first national championship.
Fortunately, no weight seems to be too much for them to handle.
