Dude we paid 2.5 million for a real leader who is also a great run blocker. Even if he doesn't start it's a good move IMO. The more good players you add the better you are.

Not a "great" signing in my book, but even if he gets beat out in camp it adds veteran depth to the interior o-line.

With no salary cap, and it only being a 1-year deal, the money is irrelevant to me.

Good move overall.

That fits my attitude as well. In between so so and good move. I went pessimistic this time with my vote.

Great move. Good player, good price. I think we'll look back on this during the season and be very happy we signed him.

Every team he's gone to has had great runblocking. Matty's gonna have to scramble some more now, but our run game is going to receive a significant boost.

The importance of a TRUE SKILLED PRO BOWLER coming to a group of Talented but underplaying O-Lineman.This is not included in this poll as every lineman we have in camp will exceed any level they've ever played at by just watching and learning this Summer.

I have many personal examples but none are Cardinal related so you probably would'nt be interested in hearing them.

Coach Grimm not in uniform can't teach what Alan can one on one with each of our lineman.Alan is getting paid 8 Million this year to do this also,so we should thank the Jets for a salary dump.

Can't wait to see who steps up Bigtime from our very skilled bunch of O-Lineman.Does'nt mean anything about running more than passing.Run blocking though will improve and all Finese will be drilled out of our bunch.Count on it.We just gained a new ATTITUDE.

This is where it REALLY helps to have a retired former starting O-lineman on the board. I love coming to the board because of the wealth and experience of the contributors here. Thanks Doug-----looks like our whole team just became mentally tougher-----Adrian Wilson and Joey Porter,(attitude on defense)-----Alan Faneca, (attitude on offense).

It is always fun to see players grow and gain confidence in their own abilities and UP their comfort levels. Having a leader on the O-line to help do this every day in practice has GOT to be huge for us, and has been the one thing that has really been lacking with this unit.

Running the ball is a mind-set, and I can't wait to see how much of an effect Faneca has on this unit during the summer. Attitude improves confidence-----confidence improves ability. I get the feeling that this year is the one where our O-line becomes special.

Good write-up. What makes me laught is we have one of the worst OL in the league and finally get a great run blocker to play for us and also teach the younger guys the ropes and posters here complain. Go figure.

Why do you say the Cards have one of the worst offensive lines in the league?

You don't score over 1200 points over three seasons with one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Especially when the Cards rushed for over 4 yards per carry for only the second time in 15 years and over 100 yards 8 times in their last 11 games last season.

In addition they kept the 38 year old Warner upright all season long.

I would think that "worst in the league offensive line" would be reserved for the Cardinal lines that got their QB sacked 50-60 times a season or finished DAL in points scored or rushing yardage.

Matt Joyce, Chris Dishman, Aaron Graham, Lester Holmes and Anthony Clement. Now there is a worst in the league offensive line. Cards scored 245 points, averaged 3.0 ypc and gave up 45 sacks.
