Only two events remain before Anna Nordqvist finalizes Team Europe for the 2026 Solheim Cup.
Interestingly, no European played better than the captain last week at the Amundi Evian Championship, where Nordqvist made all kinds of history with her share of seventh, not to mention a great deal of personal satisfaction.
Alas, Nordqvist insists she will not pick herself. While U.S. captain Angela Stanford gets three picks, Nordqvist has more influence on her team with four.
Like the Americans, Team Europe had a practice session at Bernardus Golf following the Evian. Lottie Woad, who will make her Sohleim Cup debut Sept. 11-13 in the Netherlands, even made an ace during practice.
The top two players in the European Solheim Cup Team points standings automatically make the team. Those players are currently Charley Hull and Chiara Tamburlini, who would also be a rookie. Germany's Helen Briem trails Tamburlini by only one point.
Then the top six players in the Rolex Rankings not already eligible automatically qualify. Right now those six players are Lottie Woad (No. 5), Maja Stark (24), Celine Boutier (31), Carlota Ciganda (43), Linn Grant (45) and Esther Henseleit (51).
The next two European players in the Rolex Rankings are Nanna Koerstz Madsen (No. 61) and Leona Maguire (No. 82).
The two events left before qualifying ends are the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open and AIG Women's British Open, which take place next week and the week after. Solheim veteran Georgia Hall has played several events on the LET since giving birth earlier this year to her son, Connor. The Scottish Open will be her first event back on the LPGA. Hall hopes to give Nordqvist something to think about. The British Open returns to Royal Lytham & St. Annes, where she made her first LPGA victory a major in 2018.
Netherlands' own Dewi Weber moved up 128 spots in the Rolex Rankings to 82nd after taking a share of third at the KPMG Women's PGA. She's now 85th. Weber, however, will have to win one of the next two events to be eligible as she's not a member of the LET. Nordqvist can't even select Weber as a captain's pick.
Another Solheim veteran, Madelene Sagstrom won't be playing as she's due to give birth to her first child, a boy, around the Solheim Cup.
Other Euros ranked in the top 100 include France's Nastasia Naduad, long bomber Julia Lopez Rameriz (87), England's Mimi Rhodes (88) and Ingrid Lindblad of Sweden (90). All would be rookies.
France's Agathe Laisne won two events early this season on the LET but has sputtered of late. She's fourth in the points standings, 22 points behind Tamburlini.
