as bad as the score ended up, it was 13-0 and Fitz just caught a first down pass deep in NE territory, only to get negated by a holding call. That call could have very well stopped a 13-7 halftime score (or even 13-10 considering the last fg of the half).

Not too bad for not being able to get off the field on D and playing without Bryant Johnson (and Edge essentially).

What happed in the second half was basically amongst players who won't be seen again for a very long time...

Just a thought.

No,no, no, don't try to make any sense, the Cards stink.THey got beat 30-3. The season's done. We can't run the ball, we can't stop the run. Navarre stinks, you know the 3rd string QB should get in there and be the next Joe Namath. The OL needs to shuffle all the positions. Our DB's need to tighten up their coverage. The LB play was horriific.Edge is a bust. I'm done, the Cards need to fire Dennis Green if this is the kind of play we're going to see all year. I'm going to become a Colts fan .
Wait, i can't do that they were 0-5 last pre-season plus lost their first game this year. They're going to stink again. THey may only go 13-3 this year. Maybe , i"ll go for the Chiefs. They have Larry Johnson, you know. Oh wait, they were 0-4 last pre-season and already 0-2 this year. Dammit, i'm going with the Niners.THey won their first pre-season game and that Alex Smith guy looked really good. He's a sure fire stud this year. If they beat Oakland tonight, i'm making my Super Bowl reservations.

I don't think anyone should put too much into this 1 preseason game but losing 30-3 in any game (or scrimmage for that matter) is not good. The defense was especially bad in this game allowing 3rd down conversions time after time. The fact the Patriots had more than double our time of possesion says it all. Lets just hope the Cards play better on Thursday...

We really just need to forget about the season and start talking about next years draft. Pre-season games are really a true indication of how your team is going to play in the regular season. I promise you we won't blitz in games during the season, Edge plays only 4 snaps and John Navarre plays our fourth quarters.

I remember those years we would go 4-0 in the preseason and 16-0 during the regular. That's why this game has to make you really depressed.

Preseason football means nothing, nothing, and more nothing.

You can see some of the individual players and if they are progressing but that's about it.

Are our Linebackers going to get any faster between now and
September 10th?

One play in a game where the opponent had the ball over 42 minutes, is hard to put much emphasis on.

they dominated, does it mean anything, not necessarily it's a pre season game. If we play that way in the regular season yeah we're in trouble, I'm not convinced yet that's the case.

I would like to see us run the ball more though I don't care if we lose 30-3 again, I think the best way to get this OL ready to run the ball when we HAVE to, is to make them run the ball now.

Unfortunately with all the time Leinart missed, it's pretty apparent we're working a lot on the pass offense with him so it's unlikely we'll run.

This game seemed to be the Pats turn to play a determined game, when a team like the Pats chooses to do that in the Preseason, it can get ugly in a hurry, we were not doing that at all IMO.

I think we treated it for what it was, a road Preseason game, tinker with stuff and get home unhurt.

I'm kind of curious as to why we don't run more too, the only explanation I have for it is that we seem to be hiding something. I'm tempted to say the ability to run block to be mean but what I actually am talking about is it seems we don't work on the run much for some planned out reason.

You'd think they'd run again and again and again but they don't, I wouldn't be suprised if they just unveil a totally new scheme on the 10th just to get some suprise factor out of it, I could be wrong but it's a hunch.

Well this is the Cardinals, they could just as easily look this bad from the get go having me hanging up my playoff hopes by halftime on the 10th.

The Cardinals are like a box of chocolates to a person lethally alergic to Strawberries, just one wrong move away from disaster.

I did take some comfort in the clips the NFL network showed right after the game of the Colts line blocking for Edge, several really good examples of frankly poor blocking where he ripped off big runs.

The point is that in a real game when he's actually trying and with our WR's they aren't going to be able to play base defenses or shoot gaps like they have in the past, well they can but it won't be a good idea for them IMO.

Maybe the reason they aren't running more is to save the D from total exhaustion. All of those 3 and outs would kill our D and the offense wouldn't get much work in.

I'm more concerned with them NOT doing the fundamental aspect of WRAPPING UP - i saw time after time guys trying to knock the Pat's rushers down instead of actually tackling.

Two years ago our preseason game against San Diego looked at least as bad as this one and if I remember right it was even worse. Where at the end you say, did we really just have an entire game without making a single play? Three weeks later we barely lost to the rams on their home field on a ball call, next week we took the Patriots into the fourth quarter, next held Atlanta to 6 pts. All without Boldin in the lineup. Got us to 0-3, which still sucks, but the Cardinals looked nothing like the popwarner team that took the field versus SanDiego. The undefeated preseason tends to predict a top five draft pick Cardinals team then anthing else.

Normally I save this for mid season, but it looks like like some could use a little comforting now.

Pray with me...

Our Cardinals, Who art in Glendale,
Hallowed be thy name (apparently).
Thy draft #1, Thy season be done,
In week 2 of pre-season, as it is in week 16.
Give us next year, a feeling of hope,
And forgive us for not drafting Leftwich,
As we forgive those who are still Plummer fans.
Lead us to the Playoffs, And deliver us from Turnovers.
For thine is the Interception, The Fumble, And the Penalty, for ever.
Amen

We corner blitzed almost all the time. We treated this game on defense as some testing ground for strategies and personnel. Not too shabby in the first half, but the D didn't play well being put under pressure from our blitzing corners and the LBs didn't do their job recovering.

That's what the staff wanted to know...what would happen in that situation...they will work on it.

I'm more concerned with the passing game and how it didn't click without BJ in there, and how the OL played specifically Step. Too much pressure on both Warner and Matt. As bad as the D played, I can write that off to the staff trying to groove the cb blitz packages, but the center position and OL in general can't let people in like that.

This next game should be interesting, as we'll see more of the first team and probably two longer series with Edge back there...maybe 7 carries or so.

We were just hiding the immense talent we have on the OL for the REAL GAMES...we don't want to give away our new abilities to run for 200 yds a game until Sept. 10th...it should not be a conern at all!

No. If we were the Steelers we'd have finished 5-11 and the Cardinals would have won the Super Bowl.
