One of Kentucky's best hitters is returning for the 2027 season

With the college baseball transfer portal open, the Kentucky Wildcats, like every other program, is set to lose players who want a fresh start elsewhere. It's an inevitable part of college sports in 2026. Starting catcher Owen Jenkins announced his departure early in the week, but on Saturday, the team got some good news. First baseman Hudson Brown will return for 2027.

Brown's announced his return, saying:

After many prayers and thoughtful consideration I have decided I will be returning to Kentucky. The support from my coaches, teammates, family, friends and BBN means the world to me and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow on and off the field. I am looking forward to helping this team compete at the highest level.

At 6'6", 220 lbs, Brown is a big first baseman with lots of power. This season, he hit .333 with 7 homeruns and 39 RBIs while missing several games with an injury. He has the potential to be even better as a junior in 2027.

Brown is the first confirmed player returning next season, but there will be others. He is a big one, though. He had several clutch hits for Kentucky, and is sure to have more. He has two years of eligibility remaining, and having him back is a win for Wildcats baseball.
