For any player who puts on pads and a helmet, the idea of being a pro football player. From there, if that dream is achieved, the idea could then lead to talk of a second contract and more to lead a complete football life. For a very few, special players, there is the rainbow at the end that leads to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This weekend, the latest class will be heading to Canton to be enshrined, led by two NFC South legends, Luke Kuechly and Drew Brees. But with all the celebrations centered around that, some folks have started to wonder who else could become a Hall of Famer.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell went through every NFL team and made some decisions on players who could be enshrined eventually. For the Bucs, he mentioned Tristan Wirfs as needing to simply "keep it up" to end up in Canton.
He writes, "Wirfs missed time with a knee injury last season and had more hiccups than usual in the weeks after returning, but he would still be the first pick if you were drafting any left tackle to dominate the league over the next decade. Let's hope that the hamstring injury he reportedly suffered at the start of training camp doesn't linger into the season."
Wirfs is one of the more decorated offensive tackles already in NFL history. Wirfs has a Super Bowl, has enough time left to earn another, and it could very well lead to him cementing himself as an all-time great when it is all said and done.
