On Campus is a weekly series that keeps up with area athletes playing collegiately.
Baseball
• Walker Cunningham (Cambridge Springs 2021) pitched six and a half innings for Allegheny on Friday. Cunningham struck out eight and allowed one earned run on five hits.
• Tai Hopkins (Cathedral Prep 2022/Meadville native) pitched against four batters in relief for Allegheny on Friday.
• Mason Walker (Meadville 2023), a sophomore at Penn State Shenango, allowed three earned runs and six hits in two innings on Friday.
• Hank Shaffer (Saegertown 2023) had three hits and three RBIs for Penn State Behrend across three games last week.
Men’s Volleyball
• Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs 2021), a senior at Thiel, had eight kills, five digs and two blocks in a NCAA DIII Tournament match on April 17.
• Jackson Decker (Meadville 2023) had two digs for Saint Francis in a match against LIU on Saturday.
Softball
• Brooke Wise (Conneaut 2023), a sophomore at Salem, tallied seven hits, three RBIs and two triples in last week’s action. Wise also pitched four and a half innings with five strikeouts, four walks and no earned runs.
• Linda Shepard (Conneaut 2023) pitched a shutout for Penn State New Kensington on Saturday with two strikeouts and three hits. Shepard was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. In the opener of a doubleheader, Shepard was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three shutout innings in the circle.
• Sheila Despenes (Maplewood 2024) had three hits for Thiel last week with a stolen base across four games.
Men’s Lacrosse
• Austin Parker (Maplewood 2022), a junior at Thiel, had six ground balls in a game on Saturday.
• Joey King (Maplewood 2021) scored a goal for Thiel on Saturday on two shots.
Women’s Lacrosse
• Rylee Jones (Conneaut 2022) scored two goals and added three ground balls for Edinboro on Saturday.
• Jacqui Detelich (Conneaut 2023), a sophomore at Edinboro, scored once for Edinboro on Saturday.
