The New England Patriots ruled out defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga on Friday and listed three players as questionable for Sunday night’s AFC wild-card game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, will be missing at least two players and could see up to six more sidelined, including starting running back Omarion Hampton.
“#LACvsNE game status QUESTIONABLE — Austin Deculus, Bud Dupree, Tucker Fisk, Omarion Hampton, Elijah Molden, Del’Shawn Phillips OUT — KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Kendall Williamson,” the Chargers official account posted on X.
The status of Hampton and cornerback Elijah Molden are particularly important to monitor.
The former was the Chargers’ first round pick in 2025 and led the team in rushing touchdowns (four) during the regular season despite being limited to nine games. Hampton finished his rookie campaign with 545 rushing yards on 124 carries while adding 32 receptions for 192 yards and one score through the air on 35 targets.
Drake Maye’s former teammate at the University of North Carolina missed two months during the middle of the season due to an ankle injury and is still nursing the ailment. Hampton did not participate in Wednesday’s or Thursday’s practices before getting in a limited session on Friday.
Molden started in each of his 12 games in Los Angeles’ secondary this season, recording 52 tackles, one interception and one pass defended. The former third-round pick was limited in all three practices this week.
