Two-time alpine skiing Olympic champion Michelle Gisin suffered a serious crash during a training session in St Moritz, Switzerland for the women's World Cup downhill races this weekend.
The Swiss crashed heavily into the safety fence at high speed and was taken by helicopter to a hospital. There was initially no information about he condition.
Gisin won combined Olympic gold in 2018 and 2022, when she also won super-G bronze.
If fears of a serious injury are confirmed, this would be the third major setback for the Swiss team ahead of the 2026 Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Lara Gut-Behrami is unable to compete at all this season due to a cruciate ligament rupture, while Corinne Suter will also be out for several weeks after suffering a lower leg injury in a training crash in St Moritz.
