When Oleksandr Usyk steps into the ring for his next fight, he won't be a world champion.
That's because Usyk on Friday announced he is vacating all three of his titles (IBF, WBA and WBC), although he's not retiring just yet.
“Today is Friday, the weather is beautiful, and it’s a good day to say that I want to vacate all the belts I currently hold,” Usyk said in a video posted on Instagram. “I want to make them available so the guys who are next in line can fight for them. Friends, I’m leaving the belts, but I’m not leaving the sport, because I still have my last dance. I want to thank everyone. I have great respect for all organizations. I want to thank everyone and say there’s more to come.”
