ODB CD Due in January
"Osirus" is the debut release from rapper's mother's label
Osirus, a new album of Ol' Dirty Bastard material recorded during the six months before his death, is set to hit stores January 4th. The fifteen-track CD, named for one of the late rapper's aliases, will be the debut release from JC Records, the label formed after ODB's death by his mother Cherry Jones and manager Jarred Weisfeld. The album's first single, "Pop Shots (Wu-Tang)," was produced by Gang Starr's DJ Premier. The record also features guest spots by Kdef (Ghostface Killah), the Mountain Brothers' Chops and Mark Ronson, as well as skits by Rahzel.
Weisfeld suggested the possibility of future ODB CD and DVD releases, saying in a statement, "Dirty's legacy will continue."
ODB, who collapsed and died November 13th in New York City, was also recording his Roc-A-Fella debut, but, according to a label spokesman, there are no current release plans.

Wow, I know nothing about ODB, but after reading this thread, I'd have to agree with you Ryan. What a sad way to live! It makes me wonder what made him feel like he had to abuse his body that way? Very sad.Ryanwb said:So sad, he had so much of his life left but he threw it all away on drugs and booze.
Why would anyone want to live like that?

Full Wu-Tang Clan To Guest On Posthumous ODB Record

It seems like just yesterday we talked about RZA pining for the days of Wu-Tang past. Acting as the spokesman and historian for nine-member hip-hop collective the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA has written a Wu-book, organized Wu-reunion concerts and DVDs and now it seems he’s pulled his musical comrades back into the Wu-studio.
RZA told Billboard.com that all eight surviving members will be featured on a track honouring Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who died last year. With Ghostface Killah the only member left to record his vocals, the track — tentatively titled "I Go Through Life" — will be the first to feature the full Wu-Tang line-up in several years. It’s likely to appear on the upcoming posthumous ODB record — that’s the "official" record that Dirty was working on at the time of his death, not the mix-tapes and unreleased recordings being issued by his mother.
ODB had been working on the material since his release from jail in 2003 for Roc-A-Fella Records, though it now seems the finished product will be released through a partnership of the Wu-Tang Records imprint and the Damon Dash Music Group. When Dash began work on finishing up the LP (which already featured Ludacris and The Neptunes), he brought in RZA as a producer.
RZA also told Billboard that Quentin Tarantino had heard the big reunion track in the studio (RZA scored the director’s Kill Bill series) and got chills. The producer did not say why Tarantino’s chills were significant. The album is likely to run 13 to 16 tracks, with "Intoxicated," featuring Method Man, Raekwon and Macy Gray, expected to be the first single.
The as-yet untitled LP is due out March 22.
