Former Air Force general manager and director of recruiting/NFL liaison Kale Pearson will be the Oklahoma football team's next director of high school recruiting.
Pearson will join general manager Jim Nagy's staff in the role after serving with the Falcons since 2022. Pearson, who is a native of Tulsa, played collegiately at Air Force and was the team's starting quarterback his senior year in 2014. Air Force won 10 games that season, including winning the Commander-In-Chief's trophy.
Pearson updated his X and LinkedIn profiles as of Wednesday night, reflecting his new role, though Oklahoma has yet to make announcement. Pearson also tweeted welcomes to the Sooners' most recent portal transfers in Cal-Berkeley running back Jaydn Ott and Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula.
Nagy hired Taylor Redd as assistant general manager in March. Redd and Pearson have similar backgrounds. Redd served as director of player personnel at Wake Forest. He was also a former NFL scout.
After his playing career at Air Force ended, Pearson spent one season on coach Troy Calhoun's staff as a graduate assistant before serving three years as a flight commander at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. He then moved back to his home state of Oklahoma, where he served as an officer at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City from 2019-21.
Pearson played his high school football at Union, winning three state championships. His father Preston was an assistant on those teams and is now the head coach at Skiatook High.
He was also an active-duty officer prior to his stint at Amazon and then return to the college game. He served as a deployment officer of the 552nd Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma from May 2019 through March 2021.
