The final season of Daryl Morey's time with the Philadelphia 76ers included a confusing deadline trade when he sent second-year guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a slew of draft picks. One of those picks is No. 22 in the June 23 draft, via the Houston Rockets, so they got a first-round pick out of the deal, but when considering what McCain is doing for OKC, it's still a confusing deal at the moment, at least.

After McCain scored 24 points and was a plus-28 off the bench in a 123-108 Game 3 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals, he was asked about whether this was a "prove Morey wrong" type of performance. However, he gave a professional answer as he is focused on what he's doing right.

McCain told reporters:

It’s never to prove anybody wrong. A lot of my stuff is I try to keep a positive outlook. I like proving my support system right. The people who really believed in me. I like proving them right. So, no matter what it is. I got traded. I always try to keep a positive outlook. Daryl’s still the guy that drafted me, so I’ll always have love for him for that. He trusted me, believed in me enough to take me at the No. 16 spot. So, I'm forever grateful for that. No matter what. So, it's never about proving anybody wrong for me. It's about proving everybody right.

McCain's big night caught the eye of Sixers star Tyrese Maxey who took to Twitter to give his love and support to the young guard.

The trade won't be complete until the Sixers make their selections and those players come in and make their impact, but until then, it's still a bit confusing. Philadelphia could have used McCain's contributions in the playoffs as the bench unit struggled at times to really find that offensive spark. Either way, the Sixers and McCain move on.
