Oilers linked strongly to Jordan Binnington trade originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Edmonton Oilers definitely need an upgrade at the goalie position.
How about Team Canada's first-stringer, Jordan Binnington? It's a definite possibility.
Binnington is a popular trade candidate in St. Louis Blues rumors, and with the offseason here, his name will be floating around in all sorts of speculation.
The first key will be whether the Blues decide to trade Binnington at all.
"Binnington is coming off the worst season of his career but showed enough at the Olympics to remind us he can be an asset on the right team given his puckhandling and clutch-save ability," Daily Faceoff's Matt Larkin wrote in a new article on Wednesday. "Is there enough of a market for him right now?"

Larkin then went on to point directly at the Oilers.
"The Edmonton Oilers are the clear team to watch," Larkin writes. "We shouldn’t sleep on the Panthers, either, if they opt not to re-sign Sergei Bobrovsky."
The Oilers tried to solve goalie this season when they traded for Tristan Jarry, discarding Stuart Skinner in the process, but that didn't work out.
Now, Edmonton still has a glaring weakness in net as it tries to make the most of Connor McDavid's prime.
Binnington has won a Stanley Cup, and he's a big-game player at the international level.
Everything went wrong for the Blues in 2025-26, including Binnington's play, but it's hard to separate his struggles from everyone else's.
The goal for Edmonton would be to bring Binnington into a better roster and allow him to thrive. If that worked out, it'd certainly be a big boost to the Oilers' chances.
