Rumors around Andrew Mangiapane’s fit with the Edmonton Oilers have intensified in recent days, with multiple reports suggesting both player and club are open to a change of scenery.

The veteran winger, who arrived last summer expected to stabilize the middle six, has instead become a frequent subject of trade chatter as his role and production have diminished.

On Saturday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet named the Anaheim Ducks as one of the teams showing interest in Andrew Mangiapane. He noted that there is legitimate league-wide interest in the winger and added, “I heard Anaheim was one of the teams kind of poking around.”

He could be a valuable addition to their starting lineup. He has talent on his side. In 40 games this season with Edmonton, he has scored five goals, recorded 11 points, and has a minus-17 rating.

Mangiapane signed a two-year deal worth an average annual value of approximately $3.6 million. He was projected to ride shotgun with one of Edmonton’s elite centers or, at minimum, drive play from the third line. Instead, his ice time has dropped sharply, including stretches under 10 minutes and multiple recent healthy scratches as head coach Kris Knoblauch has turned to younger options and different combinations.
