Ohio State punterJoe McGuire revealed the drastic penalties for showing up late to practice under coach Ryan Day, including some detailed care of the Buckeyes' practice field.

Appearing on the YouTube show "Dos and D," McGuire discussed the football team's winter training schedule, explaining that you have to show up for practices at or before 6 a.m.

"If you're a minute late, it is a disaster," McGuire said. "Like, I would rather crash my car than show up late."

McGuire then revealed some of the punishments for being late for practice.

"You'll have dawn patrol on Saturday, so you have to be there at 6; you're cleaning the weight room, you're restocking fridges," McGuire said. "Sometimes, if there's nothing to do, which happened to us one time, you'll go on to the turf indoor field, and if there's any white pieces of grass on the green piece of grass, we pick them up. ... Then, after that, you'll have community service."

McGuire also said one player showing up late results in penalties for everyone who plays that position, including the unit's coach.

"Then, you're kicked out of the locker room for three days," he said. "You're like Harry Potter. You go down the stairs. That's where you get changed and live for the three days."

On the Monday of the punishment period, McGuire said the coaching staff makes sure the players who are being disciplined are getting all their homework done, and coaches are even driving players to and from their classes.
