The Ohio State men's basketball team completed their trip to Puerto Rico with another impressive 111-73 victory over Los Boris 2. What was a close game at halftime turned into a route where once again six players scoring in double figures showed the potential scoring balance on this team.
Ohio State led just 47-40 at halftime, but the Buckeyes dominated the second half and outscored Los Boris 2 by 26 in the second half.
Guard John Mobley Jr. started the first game on Sunday but came off the bench on Monday as head coach Jake Diebler wanted to try out a different look. Mobley Jr. led all scorers with 17 points for the Buckeyes, also having 4 assists. He connected on 7 of 14 from the field, including making 3 of 7 from three. Amare Bynum also contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
The Ohio State starting lineup consisted of Justin Pippen, LJ Smith, Jimmie Williams, Amare Bynum and center Ivan Njegovan.
Jake Diebler looked at the Puerto Rican exhibition, which was named Arroyo Puerto Rico Classic as a positive for his team. "We were able to showcase that really over both games, because with our pace we were able to wear the vets down a little bit. All of these guys were pros here. But some of them hadn't been training. Their season ended a little bit ago. So I thought our depth was a big difference."
The head coach and his coaching staff come back to Columbus with a glimpse of what the team can look like this upcoming season. Now they can get to work and refine what they did not like as they hope to make some noise this upcoming season.
