Diffrence? HobGoblin and Green?

psst i haven't seen 2 yet..

In short, there really isn't a big difference between the Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin other than they are 2 different people, a slight costume change, and their state of sanity before they took the serum (formula whatever).

More details below but warning could spoil the 2nd movie

*** Comic Book and Movie Spoilers ***

Green Goblin was Norman Osborne, the founder of Oscorp. Oscorp tried to create super soldiers (basically) by making products that would increase soldier strength, speed, and overall effectiveness. In a rush to make sure his legacy stood and keep his contract with the military, he tests the serum on himself and becomes a schizo. The green goblin is born and goes on a killing spree. Spiderman ultimately kills him

The Hobgoblin is Harry Osborne, the son of Norman Osborne. He blames Spiderman for his father's death (he didn't know his father was the Green Goblin). He goes insane when he finds out that his best friend Peter Parker is in fact Spiderman. While in a delusional state, he sees the ghost of his father and stumbles upon his father's secret. He takes the formula, arms himself with his dad's weapondry (Green Goblin costume, bombs, glider), and seeks his revenge on Spiderman.

Why is everyone so set on introducing Venom in the next movie?
True...the more I think about it the hobgoblin/lizard combo sounds good to me. However it does seem reasonable that they can layout the framework for venom by having jjj's son go on his space mission in part 3...perhaps come back to earth in part 4 (bringing the alien) with him (not necessary linked together).

I would imagine that marvel super hero secret wars is way too complicated to bring in...and the producers are trying not to have the marvel universe just explode into the film...the space mission seems the perfect route.

The venom card is too awesome a character to toss in too quickly...but adding tidbits in the next 2 films would definately keep people hooked.

There is also the possibility of introducing the Black Cat into this (in the credits they have Felicia Hardy mentioned in part 2 although I don't remember her being introduced)
I read brooke adams (porn star) was to have a cameo as felcia in the 2nd film....but I don't recall any real knockouts hanging out with pp/spiderman....

Hmm. I'll have to look for her when I see it with my wife (oh yeah, and I'll look for her next time I see Spider-Man 2, also!) ;)

Did any of you notice how JJ Jamison leaped from the doc to the boat ramp? It looked slightly supernatural.

First thing's first: best movie I have seen this summer! It kicked ass!

one thing bugged me about the whole movie. I understand the arms of Doc Oc having nano technology, even if you have to swallow them having intelligence and taking over Doc Oc. It's a comic book, I get that. Even if radioactive spiders don't give you spider powers. I can buy all the previously said "science."

I can't understand why the arms would want to rebuild the power plant? They knew it almost destroyed them the first time, and the arms seem like they were bent on survival! That was made obvious! Plus the power plant didn't have ANY benefit for the arms. I could see if they were losing power and needed the plant to make them survive. They would have hated me in the script meetings for this movie when I pointed out this doesn't work for the story. Aside from this MAJOR logic flaw, it IS a great movie! :D

The only thing (and its kinda rated as throwing lint) that I don't like is the mask itself...for some reason it just annoys me when you don't see much movement when he talks...kinda reminds me of power rangers.....

What a great movie. I thought it would be a good flick, but I was not expecting that.

****SPOILERS BELOW****

OK, the opening with the artist renditions of scenes from Spidey 1 just simply got me pumped. Then the elevator scene with the crotch joke was just awkward & unexpected enough to work and I was dying laughing.

The action scenes were incredible, simply the best CG action scenes ever produced. They looked and felt real, from the tearing apart of the clock tower and using the clock arm to attack each other to that awesome duel on top of the elevated train, I don't think they could have done much better, it was masterful.

What really caught me off guard was the acting in this movie. This movie could easily have worked even without the action sequences, the acting was that good and the plot was crisp. The scene out back of Aunt May's house in particular where Peter and Mary Jane almost come together was just acted perfectly, you could feel yourself wanting Peter to tell MJ everything and you could feel the tension between the two characters, I mean really feel it. Intense stuff there.

Probably the most shocking thing for me was just simply how dark and violent this movie was. I mean, you add blood to the operating room scene and it's an R-rated horror flick. I liked it and I feel it's too bad this movie didn't come out sooner to maybe kick George Lucas in the ass about how dark and violent Episode III needs to be. To be honest the whole General Grevious thing (a droid weilding 4 lightsabers) sounds horribly kooky to me, but that's another topic for another thread.

Anyway, two thumbs way up on Spidey 2, I loved it, and I loved the fanboy way the movie ended. Fantastic flick and I can't wait for Spidey 3, it should be a fun one.

BTW, doesn't Catwoman look terribly stupid? Blade Trinity was a nice suprise, should be a fun flick too.

i may by wrong here but there were two hobgoblin's in the comics. One identity was unkown the other was Ned Leeds, a reporter. Harry Osborne became the 2nd Green Goblin not the Hobgoblin. Although I think in teh movie they should make Harry the Hobgoblin just to make it somewhat different from the first.

The first picture is the green goblin, the second is the hobgoblin:

There's a possibility that the felicia hardy was in spiderman 2......however there is really no mention of it anywhere...except for the credits. I don't know if her scene was deleted - but I don't want to distract someone trying to find a character that isn't there.

Yeah I need to correct myself. With all of the alternate universe storylines, the Ultimate Spiderman storylines, and the cartoon that was on FOX not that long ago, it can get pretty confusing after awhile (and with some of the awful writing that came out in this comic at times, I prefer to black most of it out).

If you include all of the alternate universe storylines there were 5 Green Goblins, 4 Hobgoblins, the Jack-O-Lantern (fake Hobgoblin), and the Demi-Goblin.

BTW to add more to our list of possible villains ... Kraven, Shocker and Morbeius (sp?)

This isn't a spoiler because she isn't in the movie.

Black Cat is a major player in the Spiderman 2 video game. Has nothing to do with the movie, I know. Man, I'd have loved to see that character onscreen in the movie.
