Official: Lazio Sell Promising Teenager to AC Milan

Lazio and AC Milan have completed their second transfer of the summer with the signing of young full-back Lorenzo Calvani.

Lazio Youth Product Lorenzo Calvani Signs for AC Milan​

Earlier this month, the Biancocelesti sold Mario Gila to the Rossoneri on a deal worth €30 million. But reports revealed Milan had been monitoring Calvani even prior to launching the decisive onslaught for the Spanish centre-back.

On Thursday, both clubs confirmed that the 18-year-old has finalized his move to Milan. The official Lazio website released the following statement.

SS Lazio can confirm Lorenzo Calvani has completed a permanent transfer to AC Milan, subject to international clearance. The club wishes Lorenzo every success in the next chapter of his career.

Calvani Has Been Expected to Leave Lazio​

Calvani was considered among the most promising young players at Formello. But while some of his teammates joined Gennaro Gattuso’s first team in their pre-season preparations, the 18-year-old was summoned, as he has been expected to depart since the start of the summer.

Moreover, Lazio already have an abundance of options at left-back, with Alfonso Pedraza joining Nuno Tavares and Luca Pellegrini.

Milan also confirmed that Calvani will join their second team, known as ‘Milan Futuro’, who currently play in Serie D, Italy’s fourth tier. Transfermarkt believes the Diavolo spent €500,000 to buy the teenager, who signed a three-year contract.
