Here’s the first goal for Odell Beckham this summer: Make the team.
That’s the reality for the once-great wide receiver, who rejoined the Giants this offseason in a highly anticipated reunion.
Beckham is not a lock to make the Giants’ initial 53-man roster coming out of training camp, which begins Wednesday in West Virginia.
But if Beckham does stick around past August, he has one big mission.
“Being able to bring a Super Bowl back to New York,” he told the New York Post in a promotional interview connected to one of his endorsement deals. “It’s just my home. There’s no place better than New York.
“I just want to win one for the Giants more than anything. I’m here to give it my all, give it my heart during my last couple of years. We’ll see what God got planned.”
The Giants are entering Year 1 under coach John Harbaugh, who is fond of Beckham. Harbaugh coached Beckham in Baltimore in 2023, when Beckham’s production had already begun to decline.
The Giants are listed at +265 to make the postseason on FanDuel next year. Our complete FanDuel Sportsbook review provides an in-depth guide on how to use their app. Also, visit our Giants win total prediction and other Giants futures bets to view our expert takes.
Still, Harbaugh has made it clear that Beckham will have to battle during camp to make the team — while showing that he still has plenty left in the tank.
Beckham, 33, signed a bare-minimum one-year contract with the Giants that includes no guaranteed money. He is a glorified tryout player this summer — albeit one who has an extensive background as a star in East Rutherford.
Giants fans would love to see Beckham on the field come Week 1 against the Cowboys. But will that actually happen?
