Head coach Geurschom Demosthenes always seems to have something up his sleeve at Orlando Christian Prep, and this season is no different. Even when people may expect a down year for the Warriors, Demosthenes shows up with a few surprises.
The main man for the Warriors will be no surprise. Senior running back/defensive back Akeevin Anderson does it all for the Warriors, and he’s been doing it since his freshman season. At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, he’s off the radar for some college recruiters, but Demosthenes said he will get his attention.
“Akeevin has grown up and become a solid leader on our football team and Akeevin will get a [scholarship] offer from somebody,” Demosthenes said. “That offer will be coming soon. I am super excited about his maturity as a young man.”

With the departure of powerhouse The First Academy, OCP has only one team to face in district play this season: Melbourne Central Catholic. Those teams split games last season. MCC won a wild regular-season game 55-42. OCP won a first round playoff rematch 35-34.
The district was cut in half when TFA was banned from playoff contention due to rules violations and Holy Trinity of Melbourne opted to pull out of the FHSAA playoff system and join the Sunshine State Athletic Association.
OCP has talented defensive back/receiver and Marshall commit Zeke Gunn returning, and it will have junior Nico Flores at quarterback with fellow QB Alec Worden out with an injury.
“This is probably my most hungriest team that we have had in my tenure,” Demosthenes said. “We’re excited about the opportunity and I think we’ve got a really good chance to do some things this year.
“The great thing is that there is only one team in our district. It’s gonna be a slugfest because that coach over there [Willie Tillman] is doing an good job and he’s gonna have them prepared,” the coach added. “It’s all gonna come down to how well we execute and how bad we want it.”
One of the potential achievements is delivering career win No. 100 for Demosthenes. He enters the season with 96.
The Warriors were 10-1 in 2014 and 10-2 in 2021 and 2023.

2024: 5-6, 1A playoffs.
The First Academy Royals
Coach: Jeff Conaway (3rd year, 15-5; 140-65 career).
2024: 9-1 on field; 0-10 due to forfeits.
