New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is already talking trash after the Knicks reached the NBA Finals for the first time in 27 years.
"@NYCSanitation I’d like to report a sweep," the Mayor posted on social media.
Mamdani’s post came after the Knicks swept the Cavaliers with another dominating performance, 130-93, in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Knicks have won 11 straight playoff games by a combined 262 points. They have won their three close-out games in these playoffs by an average of 39.3 points. They are the first time ever to win three series-clinching games by 30+ points.
Their last loss came over a month ago, April 23 to the Hawks in the first round.
They will now have another nine days off before facing either two-time NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder or Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals beginning June 3.

The Knicks will be on the road for Games 1 & 2 of the Finals before hosting Games 3 & 4 at Madison Square Garden.
New York went 0-2 vs. the Thunder in the regular season and 1-1 against the Spurs.
“I always said the regular season stuff is useless,” Charles Barkley said on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA.” “This is not the regular season New York Knicks right now. This team, they on fire right now. They’re playing with tremendous confidence. Whoever they play in the finals, gonna have their hands full.”
The Knicks had nine days off after sweeping the 76ers in the second round, and that raised the age old questions about rest vs. rust. But New York quickly put those to bed, overcoming a 22-point deficit in Game 1 against the Cavaliers and Cleveland never recovered from that devastating defeat.
The Knicks are the second betting favorite behind the Thunder to win their first NBA championship since 1973.

“We’ll walk through and go through both teams’ stuff during the week and then full steam ahead on that group,” said Landry Shamet, who made 11-of-12 3-pointers in the series.
“But it worked out last series [when] we waited all that time.”
