The NBA Playoffs have only reached the Conference Finals, but after the New York Knicks’ win on Saturday night, a trip to the NBA Finals feels almost inevitable. Fans have already flooded the resale market in hopes of securing tickets before official sales begin.
Can you blame them? For the first time since 1999, the NBA Finals are within reach for the New York faithful. Some fans have waited their entire lives for this moment. Hopefully, they also saved enough money, because the early resale market prices are staggering.

The Big Lead surveyed several third-party ticket exchange platforms for potential NBA Finals games in New York. Tickets for the first home game — most likely Game 3 of the series — already carry an astronomical entry price. On average, Knicks fans can expect to pay roughly $3,200 just to get in the building for what could become one of the most anticipated NBA Finals appearances in franchise history.

It’s important to note that tickets have not officially gone on sale because the Conference Finals are still underway. The Knicks took a 3-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night, while the San Antonio Spurs trail the Oklahoma City Thunder 2-1 heading into Sunday night’s matchup.
Championship events and marquee matchups in professional sports always command premium prices, and the NBA Finals are no exception. Some reports have already indicated that courtside ticket purchases on the resale market have approached $300,000.

Other reports suggest comparable courtside seats could cost nearly twice that amount for a single ticket. Needless to say, this series could produce some of the most in-demand NBA Finals tickets in recent memory. For now, however, the Conference Finals still have at least three games remaining: Sunday’s Thunder-Spurs matchup, Monday’s Game 4 between the Knicks and Cavaliers, and another Thunder-Spurs game in Oklahoma City. Any win by the Cavaliers or Spurs would extend their respective series.
Sunday’s Thunder-Spurs game could provide more clarity on the most likely NBA Finals matchup. However, neither the Spurs nor Cavaliers should be counted out. NBA history has featured several dramatic playoff comebacks after teams fell behind 3-0 or 2-1.
In 2023, the Boston Celtics nearly completed a historic comeback after trailing 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals, forcing a Game 7 in Boston. The Miami Heat ultimately survived the surge and secured their Finals berth with a Game 7 victory.
Now the question becomes: will the Knicks fans who rushed to claim tickets see their faith rewarded?
