NEW YORK — The Mets' shot at redemption begins on Friday night.

A week ago in Miami, the Mets floundered across three games, scoring only two runs and being swept against the Marlins. The Mets have not been able to correct course completely since as they dropped two out of three games to the Reds to begin the week.

The Mets did grab the finale and now welcome the Marlins across three games, beginning at 7:10 p.m. on Friday at Citi Field.

One of the main encouraging signs in the Mets' lineup has been Juan Soto, who has hit six home runs in his last seven games. He looks no worse for the wear after missing two straight games with an illness earlier in the week.

The Mets enter the night with a 23-33 record and in last place in the NL East, 2.5 games behind the Marlins (26-31).

Freddy Peralta will be taking the ball for the Mets for the 12th time this season. He enters the night with a 3-4 record, 3.52 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. He suffered a loss against the Marlins last time out, allowing four earned runs despite posting season highs in innings (seven) and strikeouts (nine).

The Mets will be out to solve Max Meyer for the second time in a little more than a week. They did not have any luck against the 27-year-old right-hander last week as he held the Mets to one hit and three walks while striking out eight in seven scoreless innings.

Meyer has been the Marlins' most dependable starter this season, posting a 5-0 record with a 2.52 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 11 starts.
