PHILADELPHIA — The Mets somehow have an opportunity to secure a series win over the Phillies, but Saturday's loss certainly stung.

Freddy Peralta turned in his worst start of his career, surrendering 10 earned runs on 10 hits and one walk in 2⅔ innings. Peralta's meltdown helped serve up two massive offensive days by Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. Harper hit for the cycle and Schwarber belted three home runs.

In the process, the Mets suffered a lopsided 15-3 loss in the second game of the series. But after Thursday's 9-1 victory, the Mets can still grab a series win over the Phillies in the series finale at 7:20 p.m. Sunday night at Citizens Bank Park.

After mustering one run in six innings against Cristopher Sanchez on Saturday, the Mets' task will not get any easier one night later.

Zack Wheeler will be toeing the rubber for the Phillies. The 36-year-old right-hander is 6-1 with a 2.01 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 10 starts this season since returning from shoulder surgery in late April.

Wheeler has made three straight quality starts, including holding the Marlins scoreless across six innings with nine strikeouts last time out.

The Mets will be rolling with David Peterson to fill in the final spot in their rotation. The left-hander's season has been a challenge. He enters with a 3-5 record, 5.91 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. He gave up three earned runs on two hits and two walks in a three-inning relief appearance against the Reds earlier this week.
