DENVER — In the midst of the Mets' nine-game road trip, they had an unscheduled off day in Denver on Tuesday.
With a winter storm rolling through Denver, the night's action was postponed due to rain and snow.
That means the Mets' attempt to continue their positive west coast swing against the Rockies has been shifted to 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday at Coors Field.
The Mets have won three of their first four games on their trip, taking two out of three from the Angels before winning Monday's series opener, 4-2, against the Rockies. The Mets will now play Wednesday and Thursday at 3:10 p.m. due to the inclement weather.
It will be a familiar pitching matchup for the Mets and Rockies on Tuesday night as Freddy Peralta and Michael Lorenzen square off for the second time in less than two weeks.
Last time they squared off on April 24, Lorenzen secured the win with one earned run allowed in seven innings with three strikeouts. Freddy Peralta was dealt the loss after allowing two earned runs on seven hits and three walks in 5⅔ innings despite striking out eight.
Peralta is 1-3 with a 3.52 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, lowering those marks with one earned run in six innings last time out against the Nationals.
Lorenzen is 2-3 with a 6.09 ERA and 1.76 WHIP. He allowed four earned runs in 5⅓ innings in his latest start against the Reds.
