The NWSL is officially back and with more support than ever.

For matchday one, the league’s opening weekend would shatter their previous attendance records. In eight matches, there was an average of 16,150 per match, with a weekend total of 129,202 total fans – a new high for the NWSL.

Boston Legacy led the way with 30,207 fans for its inaugural match – the largest debut crowd ever in league history.

Seven of the eight hosts would draw more than 10,000 fans, the first time that feat was achieved – the previous record was set in 2023 and 2025 with four clubs reaching that mark.

The Washington Spirit (19,215) also opened their season with a sellout and did it in record time.

The Kansas City Current (11,500) continued their sellout streak.

Three clubs reached crowds of over 14,000: Angel City FC (16,813), the Orlando Pride (16,120) and San Diego Wave FC (14,078).

After achieving their highest attendance in 2025, the North Carolina Courage continued that momentum with a club-record 8,159 supporters at WakeMed Soccer Park for their opener.

Women’s sports shows continues to skyrocket in popularity, growth, and support. Which records will be broken next?
