I always like the idea of stockpiling assets for future trades. However, another team would have to be very high on a player at #16 to do this and the Suns would have to believe their player would be there at #23-28. I'm presuming the other team would be giving the Suns a future first round pick back.

I'd prefer the Suns move up from #16 for a player they like.

6’5” and excellent shooter/passer. Will need to get stronger. Saw at the bottom he’s dealt with foot issues in the past which may explain his average burst.

Khyri Thomas is better than Reed at a younger age. I think he can contribute right away given his all around game.

So many of these players are starting to blur lines in regard to their talent level. I can see the Reed comparison in regard to Thomas.

Shamet will have similar weaknesses as Trae Young except he is slightly taller.

I like what I see in Donte DiVincenzo as well.

My first impression of Shamet was terrible - I thought I was looking at Brandon Knight! They are a similar build and size. Of course, Brandon is not a terrible player... wouldn't be if his head was on straight, I should say. Shamet has better floor vision and passes better but the defensive write up him again sounds a lot like Brandon - video showed no D. That was plenty to put me off him entirely. We have to have better than average D in our PG.

I also checked out Jalen Brunson (Villanova) who someone, I thought, heralded as a defender. I watched two videos and was surprised to see he was bad on D - he was constantly getting too far away from his man to recover and contest a shot. So constantly that I wondered if it might be the defensive scheme for some strange reason - he always floated to the middle of the key but did nothing worthwhile there. He never applied pressure - ala Jevon Carter.

If Harrison returns I'd rather give him a shot at PG than either of the two above.

I watched more of Carter - I hate to disagree with AzSteve but I don't see a slow first step. I quite liked his offensive game. I confess a good bit of it was that he ran the old-fashioned give and go play well. He has a good midrange jumper, too. It's out of fashion but if teams are giving it to you, and you can hit it, it's still a good shot. If anything he may be too much of a gunslinger next to Booker but WVa relied on him for a lot of scoring, so there's that. He was slotted at 47 the last mock I looked at so you'd think 31 would safe but, frankly, I'd reach for him at 16 just to be sure.

I watched a lot of Carter as a soph and junior and that first step was mediocre at best. His scouting report still shows lack of elite first step but maybe like me they are dealing with old info.

As far as him being a gunslinger, he had to be to a certain extent. That team needed his scoring but his shot selection is worrisome at times. He's just barely 6 feet tall (without shoes) and is still more of a shooting guard than a point. I still don't see him being more than an end of the bench player but we'll see.

I don't think PF is an issue this off season. You've got to give Chriss and Bender the upcoming season to develop and prove themselves. Maybe some new coaching will help one of them rise to the next level. Draft Ayton and find a freaking PG?!?

Wouldn’t mind landing Robert Williams with the 16th but I think he goes two picks before us. Not a terrible compliment to Ayton. Good defender/shotblocker and rim runner. Ayton can shoot outside. Not as worried about this being a ristic situation because Williams is not a statue.
