The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just put together an impressive season in 2024, playing their way to the College Football Playoff championship game before ultimately falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Now, Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish are looking to reload for another deep run in 2025.

On Saturday, the Notre Dame program landed a commitment from four-star safety recruit Ayden Pouncey. The highly-touted defensive back out of Winter Park, Florida is ranked as the No. 11 safety in the 2026 class, according to 247 Sports' Composite rankings.

Pouncey chose to commit to Freeman's Notre Dame program over offers from several other top programs like Michigan, LSU and Florida.

"I’m HOME," Pouncey wrote in a post on social media.

Pouncey took a visit to South Bend for the first time in late March. He returned for another visit this past week, solidifying his decision.

“I committed to Notre Dame because of the love from the coaches and people in the building, how they made me feel comfortable,” Pouncey said, via On3 Sports. “How I fit in with the players on the team and how stable coach Mickens is at Notre Dame were big too. Coach Micken’s has been there for five years and doesn’t plan on leaving on and neither does coach Freeman. It’s the best of both worlds, they are gonna develop me on and off the field.”

“After the first time I visited, I really saw how much I liked Notre Dame," he continued. "Then it really hit me on Wednesday when I went back there... I knew for sure Notre Dame was the school on that visit.

“It’s truly a special place with a lot of special people. It is also the best school in the country.”

Notre Dame will begin its 2025 college football campaign with a highly-anticipated matchup against the Miami Hurricanes on Aug. 31.
